FAQ

What is the Property Alert Service?

The Property Alert Service is a notification service provided by Land Registry designed to alert property owners to potentially fraudulent activities or unauthorised transactions involving their property.

Once registered, you’ll receive email alerts if any applications or significant activities involving your registered property occur, such as attempts to sell or remortgage.

All UK property owners, including homeowners, landlords, and investors, should use the service to protect against property fraud, especially if the property is rented, unoccupied, or mortgage-free.

You can monitor up to 10 registered properties per account with Land Registry’s Property Alert Service.

You’ll be alerted about applications for changes in ownership, mortgage or remortgage applications, and registrations of charges or restrictions on your property.

Immediately contact Land Registry’s Property Fraud line and seek legal advice to investigate and halt any fraudulent activity.

No, only properties registered with Land Registry can benefit from the Property Alert Service. You should first ensure your property is registered.
